Ronan has been a professional actor for 25 years. He has trained in a multiplicity of disciplines and performed in a wide variety of styles with many of the country’s leading directors. His worked has taken him from America to Australia, throughout Europe, the UK and Ireland. His main ambition now is to refocus his practice towards directing for theatre.
Previously he directed the Irish premier of After Miss Julie by Patrick Marber (Smock Alley) for Purpleheart Theatre Company.

Directed and devised Free Range with the 4th year students for Bull Alley Training Company.

Assistant director on Siren Production’s ’Titus Andronicus (Project Arts Centre). Nominated in six categories for the Irish Times Theatre Awards. It won four, including Best Production and Best Director for Selina Cartmell.

He assisted in the devising process of Everyday directed by Annie Ryan for Corn Exchange. Best Actress nomination in the Irish Times Theatre Awards.

Assistant director on Bedrock Productions’ Urban Ghosts (SS Michael and John) directed by Jimmy Fay. Nominated for Best Production at the Dublin Fringe Festival Awards.

Directed The Girl Who Barked like a Dog by Jacques LeCoq (Project Cube) for Bull Alley Training Company.

Assistant director on Corn Exchange’s Mud by Irene Fornes (Project Arts Centre) directed by Annie Ryan. Nominated for three awards in the Irish Times ESB Theatre awards, including Best Director, winning Best Production.

Directed three plays for Fishamble’s production of Shorts (Project Arts Centre). All the Glove in the World by Dawn Bradfield. The Journey by Tina Reilly and Tara has Written a Play by Tara Dairman.

Directed Little Malcolm and His Struggle Against the Eunuchs by David Halliwell for Bull Alley Training Company.
