Our First Decade of Graduates!
We celebrate the first ten years since the first full cohort of graduates emerged from all the programmes of training at The Lir Academy!
In 2014, we saw the first graduates from our full suite of undergraduate and postgraduate programmes (joining the Playwriting MFAs of 2012 and 2013) take their training with us out into the world. Ten years of graduates later, what a mark they’ve all made in such a short space of time.
Throughout this upcoming year, we will be acknowledging our alumni who have taken the world by storm, who are changing the industry, and who are the next generation of creative practitioners, technicians, artists and performers who are inspiring others.
The first event took place on Saturday, October 19th with opening of the first production of the year, The Government Inspector, and it was wonderful to see so many of our graduate technicians, actors, designers, playwrights and directors join us to raise a toast.
The Lir Academy has come so far since opening its doors back in 2011, and yet we still have huge ambitions and a long way to go. We have a mantra here in The Lir Academy “The Lir is Forever”. It was based on the huge aspirations to create a legacy and long-lasting conservatoire of super-talented young artists on the island of Ireland. In 2024, we are building on that mission and our Director & CEO, Gemma Bodinetz, is adding to it: “The Lir is Forever and The Lir is for Everyone”. Supporting inclusivity, access and diversity to have a Lir Academy that reflects the Ireland of today and of the future is our renewed ambition.
Our alumni are our best advocates, our brightest ambassadors and carry our future success. We will be running a series of events for our alumni throughout the year around our production schedule, from pure celebrations to creative discussions, panel events and industry-focused workshops. Alumni - keep an eye on your emails!
Thanks to all our alumni for their excellence and for being part of The Lir legacy.
