Based on the 1934 play of the same name by George S Kaufman and Moss Hart, Merrily We Roll Along was a famous flop when it premiered on Broadway in 1981. Hot on the heels of Sondheim’s great success with Sweeney Todd, the failure was hard to swallow. Thankfully the revival and subsequent productions were received more favourably.

For the first time at The Lir Academy, one of our productions will be accompanied by a six-piece live band. Acclaimed musical director Andrew Synnott promises to bring the brassy sound of Broadway to Sondheim’s most tuneful and infectious score. This legendary musical includes the hits, Not A Day Goes By, Old Friends, Good Thing Going and the anthemic Our Time.
