The course is designed for young people aged 16 - 21 who have a passionate interest in performing, who may be thinking of applying to The Lir Academy or a similar drama academy or have an interest in theatre and who would like to explore the craft of acting further.

Overview

The programme introduces young performers to the reality of intensive training, replicating two weeks in the life of a full-time acting degree.

The course will also provide an introduction to the skills required to become a professional actor.

Classes focus on the core modules of Acting, Voice and Movement and are led by The Lir’s core teaching staff. The course also prepares students intending to audition for drama schools covering audition technique, and the choice and delivery of audition monologues. Mock auditions will take place at the end of this course.

Once you have completed the application form above, you will receive notification within a few days. If a place has been allocated then you are required to continue the application process online and will be forwarded a link to do this.

Please do not send money for this course at this stage. Payment will be required only when a place has been allocated.

All applications are considered in order of receipt. If an application is received after the course is full, the applicant will be put on a waiting list. Applicants will be informed by email whether or not they have been accepted.

Acceptance onto the course is at the discretion of The Lir Academy. If The Lir feels for whatever reason that the applicant is not suitable for the course, then the application will be declined All decisions are final and not subject to appeal.

Please note: A minimum number of participants are required for all workshops to proceed.

The full course fee is payable as acceptance of an offer of a place on the course.

In the event of a cancellation more than one month prior to the course start date on courses costing €250+ a forfeiture of €250 will be retained to cover administration costs.

In the event of a cancellation more than one month prior to the course start date on short courses priced below €250, a forfeiture of the total course fee will be retained

A withdrawal less than one month before the course start date will result in the forfeiture of the entire fee.
